Map Voyage to the Dream Islands

Map showing the voyage and adventures of the famous adventurer and explorer Sigmor Arnuss on his ship Omnitaur to the mysterious Dream Islands.

Done mostly in PS, shields, compass and scale bar in Illustrator.
Sea monsters taken and traced from old maps.
For the names I used a fantasy name generator - very helpful and time saving.

I really like the medieval look of this, very cool. The sea monsters could have a thicker line to match with the terrain but overall it looks properly old. Good job and I'd like to see the style develop...and you're the man for that job.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

Thanks, Ascension. I was somewhat undecided about the style mid-ways, but in the end it turned out not too bad.

Yeah that looks really nifty Sapiento. Great job (but then who would expect anything less from you).

    Cheers,

Nice. Fanciful sea creatures. Reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are...piscine version. Love the compass rose. Don't think I can rep you so soon but will try.

The pictures of animals (both land and sea) really breathe life into this map.

Neat stuff here Sapiento! - wonder what it would look like with some kind of parchment/canvas filter over it?

I added another version in the first post. Was a good idea, thanks!

Sigmor Arnuss was a brave man indeed.

I love Ortelius' Islandia map which uses those sea monsters. I especially enjoy the description of the monster standing straight up that reads (translated):

Staukul -- The Dutch call it Springual. It has been observed to stand for a whole day long upright on its tail. It derives its name from its leaping or skipping. It is a very dangerous enemy of seamen and fishermen, and greedily goes after human flesh.
