Elevation Maps?

I love topo maps but have not really tryed to make one for my home brew fantasy setting. Has anyone done this or something like it? I havent looked at all the posted pics yet but my time in the military has made this style map a favored one of mine. I also love a satellite style wide view for showing large land masses or closer views as well. Any help pointing to examples would be most helpful.

You may want to check out Ascension's Atlas tutorial in the Tutorials section, which is actually more of a satellite-ish look than an atlas-style look. It's great for continents.

I started a topo map in my tracing sketchbook (pen/paper version of photoshop layers), intending it for a sort of regional/city map with an artistic border. It got laid aside, though. hmm
