He is a fantasy author who wrote the Fire of Heaven trilogy (Across the Face of the World, In the Earth Abides the Flame, The Right Hand of God). His books are heavy on the maps and he holds a PhD in geography from the University of Canterbury, NZ.
Anyways not sure how many of you have read his works, but figured I throw his name out there. His maps have a National Geographic topographical look to them.

Not familiar with him or his work...but that's a pretty nice map.
