Converting old hungarian stereographic co-ordinate systems "The Budapest System"

Hi

I dont know if this is the correct forum this, any help would be greatfully appreciated;

I have been trying endlessly to convert stereographic co-ordinates of hungary to E.O.V. which I think are from the Budapest System datum, as I know they are from the 19 60's 70's and this was the last stereographic system used in Hungary (They only state they are hungarian and stereographic).

I think I have a methodology to do this by first converting to Lat/Long using page 62 of this:

However I do not know the exact parameters of the Budapest system, namely the scale factor.

Could anyone help me? first to determine whether I am correct in saying it is the Budapest system and with any information on the Budapest System.

P.S. they are none military co-ordinates (Well locations for mining etc.)

Well, this site is really about fictional cartography although a few of us do have GIS backgrounds.

Doing your own transformation from stereographic to geographic probably wasn't necessary. There are libraries like Proj4 that are widely available and built into many GIS tools that can do that for you. The problem remains the parameters of the projection.

I don't know anything about Hungarian specific projections I'm afraid so the only suggestion I can give you is to try to run some known points through it and adjust the parameters to make them line up.

This guy: http://www.agt.bme.hu/volgyesi/ has done some work on the issue. Follow "Vetületi transzformációk" for his stuff on Hungarian co-ordinate systems (some pieces are in English). Unfortunately, the program he references, MAPRO, I am unable to find.
