September-October Challenge: New York Global Island
So many maps, so little time....I have a few ideas brewing but for now I'm posting a map I completed a few years ago.
This map was inspired by a university course on cities and globalization. I rearranged the countries into the shape of Manhattan, loosely based on Census citizenship data. The map was printed as a poster at 24x36 inches.

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
