July 2011 Challenge Entry: The Empires of Mars

Personal life has sorted itself out, so I'm in for this month, barring any unforeseen disasters.

This is going to be a representation of a Mars colonized at some point by humans, who rebelled against their home nations, developed their own societies, then fell into disaster and disarray when the terraforming began to fail and some unknown badness happened to Earth that prevented any kind of contact or resupply. Now, centuries later, there are new Martian empires, scrabbling tooth and nail to hold onto what water and resources remain.

And, hidden away in the deep deserts, desolate valleys, and underground labyrinths, the native Martians are stirring once more...

Nicely done so far diamond, I really like the coloring.

Hot damn that is cool! Great concept first off, and the terrain really does remind me of Mars. Beautiful map all around man!

nice. like the redness of it all

Okee doke, here's another update, with most (all?) labelling done. I want to add in a few more things, but this is nearing completion, I think.

I know the scale isn't accurate, but meh. It's a compromise between reality and feasibility (of travel, and extent of national control).
