July / August 2012 Lite Challenge Entry: Another Stereographic Hemisphere Map
Well, I noticed that the given shape appears to be a Plate Carree projection of a spherical fractal height field that has been thresholded. Plate Carree is of course, rather ugly and not particularly suitable for general maps, so I georeferenced it, vectorized it, and cleaned it up manually (which was a fair bit of work, especially as it was fairly low res to start) and then tried playing around with it. I think I've settled on doing another stereographic hemisphere map.
I may or may not have time this month to give this the attention it deserves but we'll see where it goes.

It is. It's a Plate Carree projection from Fractal Terrains.
It looks a lot nicer in the stereographic projection than in the Plate Carree.
Sorry, it's been a busy month so I haven't gotten anything done on this map. I do have a new job and a new (to me) car though so I don't feel too bad about withdrawing. If anyone wants to play with what I've posted, feel free.
