This is my first contest, but it seems like a great way to get experience. This is my first evening of work on it, so as I get time I plan to improve it.
If I've done anything wrong let me know and I'll correct it.

You have a good instinct for finding a theme, it appears. Your map has as very oriental flavor to it and I like it.

Thanks. I used the Samurai picture from the brief as a guide for both the feel and the color palette. I've got a few more tweaks to put in, but I'd say this is about 90% where I want this to be.

Eliminated a bridge and made it a ford. Also, labeled both the ford and the bridges on the map.
