OMG I need to go back and work my old gemstone spicture...for a while when I first learned about mental ray's raytracing and reflect/refract capabilities, I REALLY got into making gemstones...I created several of my own designs, but I lost them somewhere...but putting them in a 3d scene and bombarding them with light to make them reflect/refract and throw off caustic light is an absolutely amazing thing.
