Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.

Welcome! What's your interest in maps - viewing, using, and/or making? And if you wish you could make them, would it be for yourself, or others? Because if it would just be for your own enjoyment, then all the ability you need is enough to please yourself :-). In any case, if you want to learn, look at the tutorials and ask questions - we're a helpful bunch.
