Good evening.
Hello, my name is not SchildConstruct, but it makes for a convenient alias for my gaming activities.
I'm interested in mapping and devouring this site's wonderful tutorials mainly because I am world building, and without maps, it's not something I'd like to put on the internets one of these days (that I'm lacking any artistic skill is another story).
I'm and old-school(-ish) RPG player, but am happy playing these newfangled video games whenever my college time allows (I'm studying mechanical engineering).
As a fantasy and sci-fi nut, and will heartily recommend District 9 and the Lord of the Rings extended movies, and as a history buff, I recommend that you read McPherson's Battlecry for Freedom, and watch The World At War.

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
