Just a newcomer here, and I'm looking forward to using some of these nifty tutorials on here in order to make some maps for my campaign.
Truth be told, I have absolutely no experience making maps, but I've often found myself poring over them in books and modules.

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
