    Default Hugh Brown

I took a cartography course in college on a whim, back in the days when it was done with a ruling pen, and have had an interest ever since. My wife despairs at my incessant map collecting. A few years ago I needed to learn C# and cast about for a project to use as a something concrete with which to learn. I wrote a map projection program which served its purpose though I never completed it. It got my map itch worked up pretty well. Lately I've taken on creating a map to illustrate a friend's book. A few weeks ago I stumbled across this site, and my ideas for my friend's map have undergone dramatic changes. What a great forum! I've been playing with some of the techniques I found here, and will be posting something I've made soon - when I figure out where and how.

    Thanks!
    Hugh

Always glad to hear that we can be an influence on folks, whether it be inspiration or learning. Welcome.

Welcome To The Guild !! I'm looking forward to seeing your work.

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
