I found this site while looking for ideas for a new city map. So many wonderful maps here. Sadly I don't think my Word and Paint created maps hold up to some of the designs here, but here are a few links via deviant art.

Can anyone point out some good city maps. I always struggle with deciding how to - shape a city.

The maps were drawin in Word. Then I colored in by hand. The hand drawn maps i do make don't turn out that great.

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
