I've stumpled on this site a couple of times in the past but until recently have not really been interested in making a map myself. I have been roped into creating a map for a friend who wants to make a mod for a game but is unsure how to set out his worldand well my maps at the moment are rather terrible so i thought i might take a look at some tutorials.
Who knows i may really enjoy my self and start making more maps.

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
