    Default New Member Greeting

    Hello to all guild members!
I'm quite happy to join this site. I hope to post some of my hand drawn maps soon. The quality of the maps here have humbled and inspired me.

Welcome, O Father-of-Max ! We look forward to seeing what you've made already, and what you come up with under the inspiration of the Guild's carto-ninjas.

And even if the ship models aren't maps per se, we do a lot of floor plans too ("indoor maps... ), AND we need inspiration for what sails on our two-dimensional seas. There's a number of threads that are "just" artwork ("Just" : Ha. There's some very accomplished artists here. ) Are the ships fantasy themselves, or conventional historical/modern craft?

Thanks for the welcome JB, Steel General (love your avatar image, I still read and collect comics like some people eat potato chips), and Neon Knight.
The ships are conventional historical (ie. two and three masted schooners, galleons, etc.) but fitted with grids so we can use them in our D&D fantasy settings. I added masts, crows nests, and
multiple levels to give the game a little more visual "pop" . One of the drawbacks to traditional floorplans when using three dimensional figurines. Had to ax the idea of using rigging, sails, and yardarms though as there was no way the figurines could make use of them. As to the "just" artwork, I'd say many of the maps here are just that, artwork!
