I've been an admirer of the Cartographer's Guild for a little while now, and finally got around to actually joining. My interest in maps and mapmaking, particularly in fantasy settings, comes from my youth spent reading Redwall books (and constantly turning back to the map in the front), and my time spent playing Dungeons and Dragons. My personal history of mapmaking has taken place entirely within the confines of spiral notebooks and looseleaf paper, the vast majority of which have never seen the light of day again. But it's always something I've found fascinating, and this site showcases some pretty incredible work that I could learn from. So thanks for having me!
Welcome to the Guild. Have fun.
Brian Jacques' Redwall books were such an instrumental part of my youth, too, Owain! I always wanted to visit Salamandastron.... And I know what you mean about always turning back to the maps in front!
