    My name is Mel, and I'm from Australia. I've been lurking here a bit since I was directed from a creative writing forum, as I was looking for tutorials on map-making to help me get my mind around the world I'm creating for a fantasy novel currently in the works The community here seems really great, and I can't wait to increase my skills so I can make a map I'm happy with. Can't wait to meet you all!

    Hi there Mel, welcome to the Guild. There are plenty of writers here working on maps for their novels, so you have definitely come to the right place. Also, the tutorials section here is brimming full of good insights, so take a gander. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

    Hi, Mel - welcome! Just don't get upset if you temporarily get wrapped up in the mapping / world building stage. "Picture worth a thousand words".. with each map or illustration you really are advancing the writing :-).
