Welcome to the Guild.![]()
Hi!
I've been making really mediocre maps by hand since D&D came in a small boxed set. I tried CC2 years ago, but never really spent enough time on it to make it do what I wanted. Now I'm using Fractal Mapper 8.0, as well as discovering all of the tools mentioned here. Several of the tutorials have already made my initial maps way better than my old hand drawn ones, but I'm still a newbie and hope to learn a bunch by studying everything y'all have here.
Thanks in advance!
Tobin

Finished Maps
Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.

Welcome to the Guild Tobin! Fractal Mapper is one of the few cartography programs I actually wish I owned. A2area has a wonderful tutorial on how to create maps using a combination of Fractal Mapper, Wilbur and Photoshop. If you don't have Photoshop, you can use GIMP instead. Both GIMP and Wilbur are free. At any rate, have fun mapping, and feel free to post up a WIP in order to seek feedback.
Cheers,
