Good day to to all.
So I registered here few days ago and I guess it's my time to introduce myself.
I have been writing a book for some time now and found this site couple of weeks ago. Since I want to map my books world I have found this site very useful especially: RobA's Artistic Regional Map in Gimp Tutorial - Revised Presentation... Even thought I has some problems whit that tutorial and I still haven't got the desired result for my regional maps, however I managed to makes some kind of world map using that information given in the tutorial. Because I am or should I say was total newbie whit Gimb before reading that tutorial I found it very useful.

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
