Hello,
I am new to the software portion of map building. I have hand drawn my maps when I used to play the old paper and pencil role playing games years ago. I started a new hobby...Writing... and decided I needed a map to display where my world is taking place. As I am now just doing the "world-building" portion of my book. So here I am....have to learn these new-fangled programs to build a decent map for the book. Just saying hello....

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
