Enjoy the views, but ya really need to give the maps a shot! we've got some outstanding tutorials by some really good cartographers, that and all the software needed can be had for free, gimp, inkscape for starters, so give it a go.
I agree with Vellum, you need to give mapping a shot, even if it's just to get feel for one of the oldest forms of communication mankind has ever devised.
Welcome Tech, I'm with Vellum and White Raven, you may be surprised by what you are capable of achieving after going through some of the tutorials here.
