Call me Christopher or Chris either works for me. I'm an amateur writer and table top gamer and avid reader. I enjoy maps in general a lot though as far as fantasy maps my main fascination right now is with those in books and how to make them. I'm still looking for a good program for this and experimenting with some. Prefer a free program though willing to pay a small fee for one if anyone has any advice on a good one for fantasy book maps. Always willing to look at other people's maps and give them constructive criticism (strengths and weaknesses). Any questions or comments feel free to ask or post.
Howdy! Welcome to the guild. You'll find plenty to chose from in the way of free programs, gimp is very popular and you'll have no trouble finding tutorials for it here, as well as a good selection of other free programs to augment its use for map making.
