    Post Good morning....

or good night, depending on where you are

I'm Björn, almost 31, from Holland. Nice te meet you guys.

I found this site and forum when I googled for map making software (looking if CC3 was really worth it). So far I'm overwhelmed by all the possibilities. However, looking at the quality of all the work here, it's an inspirition to try and make my own maps. If you don't hear from me again, I failed

I'm not really a tabletop gamer, but I was always fond of maps and I love fantasy. I hope to learn how to make maps here (still reading all the posts and all the tutorials) to create my own world and share it with you.

So for now I'm going back to lurking again

Fellow Dutchman here, almost 31 and also a user of CC3. And yes, I think CC3 is worth it as well!

    Welcome.
CC3 seems like good software, I don't use it myself, but I think it takes a bit to learn to use it proper.

Thank you all. So far I'm trying GIMP. It's a bit off a pain, because it's in Dutch and I prefer English (just tried to change that). Working with the tutorials is some what difficult, because of translations and some functions seem to be in different places. However, I'm trying very hard and it is a lot of fun.

If I get a bit of a hang of it, I'll look futher into other programs.

If you need help with GIMP, post up a new thread in appropriate Work in Progress forum with some screenshots and what you need help with and we will be happy to assist!

take it from a fellow "perfectionist". This place is one where no matter how bad you think your work is, the people are willing to point out the good as well as the bad (or at points to improve) of anything you post. So as some have said before elsewhere, "post early, post often, but most of all, POST"

looking forward to seeing some of your efforts.

PS. whatever software you decide to use, there are plenty of people willing to share their skills with it.

    Map My first try

Well, I've been reading the Using GIMP to Create an Artistic Regional RPG Map guide and I simply got too frustrated. I didn't get some things and - most off all - made too many mistakes. I'm not sure if GIMP is something for me...

The Pyrandon’s city map tutorial was very nice however and I tried to work by it's principles on a map. Simply working layer by layer. Since it's too shabby for a WIP, I'll post it here

    Suggestions are welcome, be gentle
