It's a late introduction, I think, but any would be better than none.
I've read the Guild forums for about a year or so, but my mapping interest is much older - for about ten years I doodle thousands of different maps, floor plans and so on. Finally, I decided to "officially" join the forums.
I prefer to hand draw any map until I start to work on it on computer, though there are many exceptions from this rule. My main software is GIMP, mainly because its free and still has almost all abilities of Photoshop and other professional graphics software. I've also experimented with lots of other software, either professional map-dedicated programs like OCAD, or simply graphical software.
I'm glad to join you, and I have to admit I'm unbelievably happy that there is a good, professional forum for cartography - this makes map-making much easier for anybody.
Lots of good tutorials on various hand drawn techniques and such - though if you've been lurking I'm sure you've seen them.
Post something up, we can give you pointers, ideas, etc.
Welcome to the guild.
I concur, let's see some maps!
Glad you de-lurked! Looking forward to seeing your contributions!
