Hello. Yet another newbie map-lover. I'm not particularly any good with mapping, I just grew to love them over the past few years with my job and am beginning to tinker with making my own. I've followed this site for a while, though, and there is some phenomenal work here. So, I figured if there was anywhere I could learn to do it properly, it'd be here.

Welcome aboard. Make sure you check out the tutorials. They are AWESOME. I know GIMP was already suggested but try Inkscape as well if you want vector graphics.
