Welcome. To copy the Tolkien maps get yourself a big sheet of paper, a nib pen, and a bottle of india ink.Actually, a fair number of the members have contributed to making it easier on you than that. Check out the resources forums for numerous brushes (mountains, forests, etc.) that'll get you going in the right direction for a Tolkien-like map. There are quite a few wonderful examples of similar maps (with modern touches!) in the finished maps forums.
BTW, spent weeks making a painstaking copy of the LotR map using the materials noted above when I was in 8th grade...oh, and a fair bit of tea for weathering. I wish I still had it today. I doubt I'd think it was as amazing today as I thought then but...
