The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.
If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ. You will have to register before you can post or view full size images in the forums.
Wow, that is great to hear, Balerion. Tear, you must be flattered!
I am yet another fan of your work and I have a request for you. I am an artist on a M2:TW modification of A Song of Ice and Fire and I was wondering if it would be at all possible to obtain a version of your map without the settlement names? I'd like to use your map as a basis for a political map for the campaign setup menu.
I hope that we can discuss this more and thanks in advance for your time.

Tear, just wanted to let you know that one of the things I spotted when I was visiting the production offices for HBO's Game of Thrones ... were several copies of your map, printed out and stuck on walls! They had been sent to them by George, and they loved the detail they had which they said had been very useful. They're making their own maps for the production, with a more historical style and focus, but I think yours is definitely a reference.
I have a picture of it on the wall of one of the offices. Not a great picture, but still. If you'd like it, drop me a line at email@example.com and I'll mail back a copy.
I, as any sane person must, love your work. I have posted a job request (paid) if you are interested. Job posted in Map Requests forum by Ploppy.
Sorry to hear you are going through some tough times at the moment and I hope things work out for you.
Just wanted to let you know that my Animated Timeline Map is now available for viewing at http://sermountaingoat.co.uk/timeline/index.php
I have not got very far with it yet but it will slowly build up as and when I get the time to work on it.
I'm struggling with some pretty intense private issues right now, so unfortunately I don't have the time to discuss this in detail. On the other hand, as I have said below, if you give proper credit to the Guild, preferably with website link, I have no objections.
Just keep in mind that the copyright for the Westeros map does not belong to me just because I did a fan project. Ultimately, permission to use any Westeros map, mine or any other, can only be granted by Mr. Martin himself.
This is yet another request to use your beautiful map of Westeros.
I am creating an animated timeline map for A Song of Ice and Fire which will show the location and movement of characters across the map as the timeline progresses. I will of course give all credit for the map to you. Please contact me on themountaingoat at live dot co dot uk.
As long as you give proper credit to the Guild, I have no objections.
I like your tutorial on Saderan. Can I translate it into French and make it available on my blog?
Hi, I love your map and I wish I could have a version translated into Spanish,
Could you send me a version of map with no names or markers?
The Spanish community will be very grateful ^ ^
Is it possible to receive a copy of the graphic you use for cities, castles, etc and lastly the font used ?
I am running a Song of Ice & Fire game called "A Web of Loyalties" and I want to use this most amazing map for my game!
