The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.

Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Biography:: I am a 23 year old woman with a love for maps.

It all started when I was a sophomore in high school. My Girl Scout troop earned money for years to save up towards a trip to Europe. That first day in Frankfurt, Germany, I was handed a map.

I know it's crazy, but my 16 year old, funky-dressed, absent-minded, hippie self fell in love with a map. It was challenging to read, it was well designed, it was the first functional art I think I ever really noticed. After that, I spent a fair amount of time sketching maps. I stopped for a few years after a tumultuous time in my life, but went back to it after designing a map for a Dungeons and Dragons game reignited the spark.

I joined this community to learn more and develop my skills. If you are interested in mentoring someone, especially if you're in the Pittsburgh, PA area, please get in touch!
