Map Related Job Interview

by Hai-Etlik on 07-11-2012 at 06:30 PM
I just completed a phone interview for a position as a software developer with OpenGeo, an organization that develops a variety of Open Source GIS software. I think it went really well and it sounds like I'll probably be contacted for a face to face interview.

By "1.3 times bigger" do you mean 1.3 times linearly (radius, diameter, circumference) quadratically (surface area, cross sectional area), or cubically (volume, mass(assuming the same density)). The...

The resolution is a suggestion of how big the image is in "real life" If you have a resolution of 300 DPI, that's just a little note attached to the image saying "this image was scanned at, or is...

You're confusing two different phenomena. Hawaii is formed by a "hot spot" and is far from any plate boundaries, one spot is active with the plate moving over it. Probably the simplest example of...

Overall, it's quite disjointed and noisy. All those textures and noise filters make it hard to read the actual features of the map like the rivers or many of the labels. Try to maintain as much...

When making a fantasy or historical map, there's a tendency among MANY artists to try to make the map "look old" even if it's supposed to represent the map when it is/was new. So a brand new map of...
