  1. I didn't make any hill brushes myself for Aronbor I'm afraid. So the nearest you can get are the reverse-engineered brushes that Vhailor made from the map. He didn't do every single hill as a separate brush but made several clumps of hills, as well as a few single ones.
You can find them on page 2 of his thread here...

    Hi Ramah!

first of all I have to say that your maps are some of the best I´ve ever seen so far! awesome work!!!

I recently found your posts about the Aronbor Map and I wonder if there is any chance to get the hill brushes you used for it?!

Would be awesome if they are downloadable somewhere!
  3. No problem. Glad your map worked out so well.

  8. Thanks for the direction. I have since looked up his tutorials and am going to start working on my map ASAP. Thanks so much and I will let you know if I have any questions. Thanks again.
  9. Ramah,
I am new to the map making in general but I have wanted to make a map for a story I have been working on for a year and a half. I am about 1/3 of the way done with the book and would like to have a map to go with it. I have Adobe Elements and really liked your Aronbor map. I would like to make something like it. I am so lost with this though. I am good with Photoshop but could really use some direction. If you could spare some I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Much

Hi there! I noticed your post on the 'punchy colour trick in photoshop' thread about your colors appearing differently in Photoshop than they do elsewhere. I didn't want to reply and necropost, so I figured I'd tell you here.

Photoshop has its own internal color settings, so you can adjust your picture's colors to more accurately reflect your printer's output without fumbling with your monitor until everything else looks weird. In Photoshop 7.0, you can reach it by going to Edit and then Color Settings, or hit Ctrl-Shift-K. From here, you can view your color profiles, or turn color management off. Hope this helps!

Recent Progress

by Ramah on 01-05-2013 at 02:17 PM
So, I've made a little progress on the MapThing suite recently. Unfortunately it's not on HillThing though.

After recently spending an inordinately long time drawing, redrawing and shading a simple border I decided that I'd have a crack at automating some of the process. So I finally turned my attention to the newly re-christened BorderControl module for MapThing.

It's not feature-complete yet but I thought there was enough now to show a little of what it can do. So,

With the welcome post out the way...

I thought I'd set out my stall as far as TreeThing is concerned.

So... what's the plan?

Well, first, a little history. As many old-timers here might know, TreeThing started out as the "Automatic Forest Generator" and was programmed by Fluesopp. It was a very simple program that took a png image and covered the non-transparent areas with trees. He very kindly made it open source and I used this as a springboard to start developing the idea in greater detail

Obligatory welcome post

by Ramah on 02-08-2012 at 06:23 AM
Hey there and welcome to Tumbleweed - an empty little part of the web that you are probably the first, and maybe only, person to visit.

I'll own up from the start - this will probably be updated infrequently. It is a little known fact (although known very well to my family) that I am an expert at starting things. Finishing them... not so much. But as I doubt there will be hordes of internet users hanging on my every word and desperate to find out what has been happening with me then
