Thanks for the rep. Boy that was awhile ago ! In that instance I did some pre work in Photoshop "Levels" to bring out the contrast. "Color range" to remove the ocean. I also made separate masks for separate heights so that once in Wilbur I could concentrate on different heights separately. Back in photoshop I used " lighting effects" to further adjust the light and shadows. I've progressed alot since then ! Check out August's challenge or well of souls in my album.

I joined this forum last week after finding this huge trove of impressive work.
Out of sheer curiosity I did a search for a particular search term on this forum and a post of yours popped up as the (only) match.
Apparently you play or played Particracy at some point? I'm its creator :-)

Pixie I hate you. I'm kidding of course. I see your point though and looking at the Wilson cycle I see that very little of what I have is explainable, even after corrections. You have lead me down...

NedS298 and Ilanthar are right in saying that a lot of this "tectonics & climate" effort doesn't get noticed once the map is finished. In fact, they can put you off from finishing a map more often...

A few people have expressed interest in the way I do my coastlines and those concentric rings around the coastlines, so here's a mini-tutorial for just that. It was done in Photoshop CS6, but it...

Interesting inspiration comes from all around . I either slop a bunch of digital paint on the screen then cut into it with the eraser tool using some cutters made from cloud brushes. Varying the...
