Wow, thanks for such a thorough response.
  2. To get a cylindrical noise field in Wilbur, use Filter>>Calculate Height Field. Select Type=Math Function and enter "ridged(1*cos(2*pi*ix/ixsize),1*sin(2*pi*ix/ixsize),4*iy/iysize)" as the expression. The 1* terms are the radius of the cylinder in noise space (larger values will get smaller noise) and the 4* term is the height of the cylinder in noise space. "ridged(x,y,z)" is the ridged fractal noise function ( "fbm(x,y,z)" is the fractional brownian motion function ). The "ix/ixsize" term computes a function from 0 to 1 horizontally in the image; the "iy/iysize" term computes a function from 0 to 1 vertically in the image. 2*pi*t converts a number from 0 to 1 into one ranging from o to two*pi (in other words, an angle). The cos(t),sin(t) item computes x and y from an angle t.

    Hello,

I was just wondering if Wilbur is able to do a cylindrical evaluation of a height field. If this is the wrong place to ask this question then I apologise.

    Hey woldronate,

I just started using Wilbur. I'm running windows XP-32bit on an AMD Tauron 64 X2 (I don't wan to move to windows 7, yet, and 64-bit XP has horrible driver support, so I stayed with 32-bit, despite my 64-bit processor). Everytime I try to start Wilbur 1.73 it crashes immediately. 1.62 seems to work, though.
  9. It turns out that I misread the sentence in the BT spec that says that the data goes from bottom to top. I should just rely on GDAL for the file I/O and projection work. Then I'll have the same bugs as everyone else. Wilbur 1.73 should fix the problem.

I've had the same thing with the pixels occur in Leveller, so it's not a Wilbur thing. The axis flip maybe.

I had to try this! 57988 I sprinkled some model railroad ballast onto the page and tapped it gently with a stick. Then in an editor: magic wand the ballast, copy selection to new layer, select...

I suppose you could not worry about drawing an actual map, and instead read over your notes and other material. Then just draw a square for one of the main countries/peoples. Following that, place...
