    Default Mapping Inspirations

I'm still new to the art/science of cartography, but I found a site today that gives me a lot of inspiration(David Rumsey Historical Map Collection). I'm thinking about trying a old atlas style like present on this site in the future. Was curious if any of you have sites that hold maps that are inspirational like this to you so that myself and others can draw from?
    Cheers, Julien

That site is indeed a gold mine geamon. I've browsed through those maps many many times. The old traditional cartographers had such skill.

A site that i just posted in another thread a few days ago, mapsbymikereagan.com/. He's an amazing watercolor artist. No computer aid whatsoever. I love his style - he was an artist for National Geographic for many years. .

nice thread. I'm always on the lookout for new sites. There's not many out there.

There is this thread in the reference material section which has many links. Raremaps.com has a lot of nice maps too.

I feel bad for making a redundant thread. I broke a forum rule and didn't search!!

Well you've done it now so I may as well add something!

I have a few sites bookmarked including this one and this one which I've found very useful. I also love the City of Florence so I have a site booked marked for it with a few maps. Most of my saved links are architecture orientated though.

Oh, and here is a detailed map of rome in 100 AD. Very useful!

Thread moved to the Reference Material forum (where many posts of this nature exist, including previous links to the Rumsey collection).
