Old Topographer, Compass Museum and More
I thought these sites might be of interest.
Northing & Easting: The site creator spent over 23 years working as a topographer and geospatial engineer with the US Army Corps of Engineers and is actively updated.
Compass Museum - has information and photos which I thought might be useful for ideas to create map elements.
Map History Has a lot of information and links related to the history of Cartography. This includes links to many collections of old maps which might prove useful. As an example here is a beautiful old map of Africa I found via their 'Images of early maps' section see the map here
Strange Maps blog Just for fun and maybe ideas.
