A bit more complicated than my first simple little map. It's meant to be reminiscent of Africa or the Americas during the age of European colonization and have a 19th century feel to it. Eventually there will be a mountain range running down the middle with the colonize area to the west, desert to the west, and tundra in the north. Not sure how I want to depict the mountains yet. If anyone has suggestions that would fit the theme that would be great.

I think your mountains need some shading/shadows to give them a sense of height. Right now they look flat.

Really cool! I like the theme, a little fuzzy airbrush of black at a low opacity would help give your mountains some definition![]()

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
