First World Critique wanted
I am building a full world to base future smaller area mapping. I did this in Fractal Terrains and Wilbur. The longest part was building the rainfall and temperature maps to get the approximate climates for the areas I wanted. Just looking to get some comments and criticism before I stamp this down and start building onto it.
Which direction does the wind blow over that large desert? If it blows west to east, it's highly unlikely to have a desert there, because wind coming off the ocean will have lots of water in it. If the wind is east to west, it's a little more likely, but the northern half of the desert still has a large body of water windward. In either case, a chain of barrier mountains could draw the water out of the air and leave it dry for the desert region. That would make the windward sides of those mountains very wet, however. Of course, if this is a magical world, all those considerations can be thrown out, anyway.
