    Wip Island Map

I followed Arsheesh's Eriond Tutorial on this. I used the radial gradient/solid noise clouds method presented in the wisemoon revision of RobA's artistic regional map to generate the landmass. So far this is the bump map, and I'm working on the climate colors.

Looks like you are off to a great start. The bump maps looks pretty good to me. Look forward to seeing it progress.

    Cheers,

I like the simplicity of the map. Its a great start, with a nearly circlelar Island. Are there any more small island coming?

This is beautiful! Can't wait to see where it goes.
This cavern is below all, and is the foe of all. It is hatred, without exception. This cavern knows no philosophers; its dagger has never cut a pen. Its blackness has no connection with the sublime blackness of the inkstand. Never have the fingers of night which contract beneath this stifling ceiling, turned the leaves of a book nor unfolded a newspaper.

I really like how your rivers turned out. That is excellent.

One thing I've noticed about this method in my own use of it is that the embossing can be a little over-much. I softened my edges on the shores up a bit by selecting the land mask, shrinking the selection, feathering it a bit, and applying a blur to the selected edges on the bump map layer. I softened up the rivers a bit by selecting the river mask, feathering that, and applying a low-opacity medium gray soft airbrush to the bump map in those areas. I personally liked the look better afterwards, seemed less artificial. Just a suggestion. Don't be afraid to deviate from tutorial instructions and experiment a bit. You might surprise yourself.

Otherwise it looks great so far. I've grown to like this method. Makes impressive-looking maps with relative ease.
