World Maps - WIP
In my intro thread and in another WIP thread I posted, going through RobA's tutorial, I allude to some world maps I've been working on.
Here are some of those images (I've linked to them, do to file size, which has been chopped in 1/3 of the original size to 2400x1200 pix):
The first thing I did was draw in several Meridians and a few lines of Latitude (the equator, tropics, and arctic lines, or thereabouts).
After that, I drew in a rough guide of where the tectonic plates were located, as well as the direction of the movement of those plates:
Tectonics
Then I sketched in some rough blobs of green color, based on a preliminary map I had hand-drawn, to get the shapes and placement of the continents:
Rough Continents (I've left the plate boundaries and directions visible here.)
Then I did some initial work on the coasts, filling in some specific features I was looking for, and adding a few things I'd forgotten before:
Changed Coasts
I plan to try to use RobA's technique on these continents to see what I can come up with.
