Are the black lines rivers, or straights? If they're rivers, i'd recommend taking a look at some river placing tutorials on here.

I'm making a book and it needs a map I've been doing some stuff and this is what I have so far I'll keep my steps updated

I second eVile_eAgLe. What kind of style are you going for? Symbol style or atlas? There are lots of tutorials, for example atlas style tutorials by tear or ascension. Hitting the tutorial section you can't miss them. Keep on mapping, I' m interessted where this goes...

I'm pretty sure those are borders.
Anyhow, what methods have you been using up to now? Looks like a generated elevation map.

I created clouds via photoshop cs5 went from there
I tried making rivers it didn't work so wel so I went back to the basics and will surely check the tutorials!
I'll go for atlas style guys. Undecided if this will be a continent or the world. (Värld means world in Swedish or at least I have been told so haha)
