    Default Imaginary world political map

This is the very beginnings of a political map. It's based on the map I finished here. I'm pretty satisfied with that map so the landforms should be considered locked in. I'm just working on the country boundaries right now. I'm thinking I might not have enough little ones in there to balance out the big guys. I don't know, I'll keep fiddling.

If you feel like there ought to be more little ones, you could mirror Germany or Italy of several hundred years ago. Some period maps of Europe would have shown one thing maybe labelled "the Germanies" or "Italian States" -- related but really sovereign states. That lets you wrap things up now to an acceptable degree, yet lets you add detail later.
