    Wip Broken mountain range

Started a new work creating an old partially erodent mountain range. Work started by creating the gray scale height map and finding the base color for the ground. Next I'll work on with the palette to find the correct shades of green and browns.

That looks very good! How did you achieve that look?

First I do the gray scale height map and choose the base color or colors. Yhen I start painting with the colors and textures I have modified to fit the color scheme. I pant over and over again till I get the desired look. Now I added some forest but I need to tweak it for a bit more...

Is that a distressed wood texture you're using? Those angled lines are a little strange for terrain, I think. I wonder if some time spent cloning them away would be worthwhile. Might be more trouble than it's worth, of course, since they're certainly less obvious after the vegetation layer went in.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ir...b095d39e51face suggests that straight lines might be completely appropriate for an eroded set of folded mountains, depending on scale. Zoom in on the bottom half of that images for some really bizarre and colorful terrain.

The angled lines are actually from the heightmap itself and I haven't figured out a decent way to get rid of them without screwing up something else. I have maually deleted a lot of them but I have to find a better way in the future. So the lines aren't going anuwhere at least not for now and Waldornate has a good explanation for them. I had figured those would be markings from the last ice age when huge rocks scoured the surface under the ice.

Attached is the latest version. I think I'm getting close to a finnish here. I'm going to do the last modifications tomorrow and put it into the finished folder. So last suggestions, questions and concerns are welocome.
