As an old highschool science teacher used to say... "Neater Than Sneakers!" (yeah he was a bit strange :))
The red box is just decoration. I wanted the maps to look like they were displayed on a Star Wars-style datapad. It's that 70's Space Opera Chic.
Ah Gotcha. If you haven't already you should check out Z-Design's tech brushes - they're great for those background tech Gizmos!
