Kargath (finally)
Hey Folks,
some of you may have seen bits of the map I've been working on for quite some time (see here). And finally I'm done with it:
(CLICK ON IMAGE FOR LARGER VIEW ... BUT CAUTION: IT REALLY IS LARGER!)
The Map was entirely done with Inkscape and Gimp on an UBUNTU Operating System.
Also I want to make clear that this map is to the greatest part a comission for the LARP-Group I am part of. Followingly there are features of the geography that I had to bring down on this map gritting my teeth for I knew they're sooo disregarding things like river policy ... Nevertheless: Be sure that I did all I could to persuade the responsible persons on that particular matter.
And by the way ... we didn't steel the name "Kargath" from Wow ... we had it first.

Very nice: good color balance and readability.
What a spectacular map. I am simply amazed at how large it feels.
Some useful cartography facts:
Circumference (C) of the Earth is about 25,000 miles or 40,000 km.
Highest point on Earth is 5.5 miles (8.9 km) above sea level (ASL/BSL).
Lowest point of land on Earth is 1/4 mile (0.4 km) BSL.
Lowest elevation in the ocean is 6.8 miles (10.9 km) BSL.
And our solar system:
C of Jupiter = 279,118 miles (449,197 km).
Highest mountain is Olympus Mons on Mars. It is 16 miles high (24 km) and is the size of Arizona.
An excellent piece of work. All the fonts colors, symbols and other elements mix perfectly with each other, nothing seems stylisitically out of place.
