Thread: Some interesting map links

    Info Some interesting map links

Hey, all. Not sure if any of these have been covered before, but hopefully there's something new here for someone.

    BibliOdyssey
    http://bibliodyssey.blogspot.com/
All sorts of oddiments scanned in from antique books. There are maps, of course, but also images of insects and fanciful creatures that might be featured in the border or blank area of a map.

Here's a book of maps I found at the above site. Pages 223 to the end are all maps, at very high resolution. Some interesting techniques and aged paper.

    Strange Maps
    http://strangemaps.wordpress.com/
A blog of various maps. Many are contemporary, but there are historical selections too. Worth checking out from time to time to see if an interesting idea has burbled up to the surface.

    The Map Realm
    http://www-personal.umich.edu/~aleskiw/maps/home.htm
A bit out of the fantasy genre but interesting nonetheless. A mapper who is creating contemporary road maps for a fictional island country. The complete ones are surprisingly realistic.

By posting those links you just earned your paycheck, Paul! I really liked the Bibliodyssey and the "Map Realm"--neat, neat stuff!

Well, you know, it's polite to bring a bottle of wine to the party...

Here's a link that groups all of BibliOdyssey's map entries together:

Thanks! Does that mean I'm on a distiguished road now? I seem to be an unknown quantity...
