Tutorial Adding Stains to Old Paper Textures

Hey everyone! I though I'd share this technique I came up with to give a paper texture some more weathering with stains.

The parchment texture is one I made by crumpling and soaking in tea (CoyoteMax's technique), and editing it a bit in photoshop. It works great and I'm hoping to make some more of them. I'll upload it right here for free use:

Hey Josiah, that's a nice mini-tut. The texture you made looks very good and has a nice big size! . For practical use, i often need to lower the opacity of these crumpled papers, since the "crumples" come out pretty strong usually. What are your experiences with them? Maybe they just need a little more ironing

    Thanks Abu!
I actually haven't used crumpled paper textures a lot, and now testing with this one I think you're right so I would probably blend it with another flatter texture. If I make another old paper texture with tea I'll make it less crumpled.
The original texture was much brighter so in photoshop I darkened it a bit and put it under some of my other maps to test it and it looked quite nice.

Yeah, I usually blend more than one paper texture together into the final parchment background i work with. Testing various layermodes and play with their opacity until i'm happy with the result. I've read about these various tea/coffee/baking techniques before. Guess i have to try it myself someday, since there's always plenty of the materials around!

Thanks for this one Josiah, I'll make good use of it as I've been postponing my own parchment texture for too long.
