    Post Your favorite illustrated map

Hello all.. great forum and resource here.

I've recently commissioned a very talented artist to draw a map for me. The commission is very expensive, and I want to make sure the artist has a very good idea of the idea I'm looking for in a map. The problem is I'm having a hard time coming up with excellent examples of illustrated maps.

I was hoping some members of this forum wouldn't mind sharing some examples of their favorite illustrated maps so that I can provide the artist with examples from the ones you come up with.

I've come up with a few that I think are very strong, and I like elements of each. Here's an idea of what I'm looking for:

    Another Hyboria:

    Middle Earth:

Any others that you could provide that are very similar in style would be greatly appreciated. And of course once the commission is done, I would be happy to share the result for you to enjoy with me.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, pouncer, and welcome to the Guild. I think your best resourse is our reference section, where you will see a lot of "maps by..." posts; each of these links to an admirable cartographer; basically we have already posted our favorite mappers in that manner, so my suggestion is to go look them over. It should only take a few minutes and I think will yield more examples than you can shake a stick at.

Who did you commission, if I might ask? Also, when the work is complete, make sure to let us see the fruits of his or her labor!

Thanks for posting, and good luck!
