Good mountain style, looking forward to seeing how this progresses!
Every time I have used symbols, textures, and effects. This time I am going for a unique one made with a tablet in Photoshop. Even the text is going to be done in fancy hand writing. I'm not so great at drawing in PS, so the end result is a mystery. The world is just an old one I made for a table top wargame long ago - it has no history or anything right now.
Anyway, these are practice mountains so far;
Yeah, it has some mistakes...

Yeah, those are nice looking mountains. Post moar!
I completed the mountain range and cleaned it up a bit. I also redid the coast lines by hand, to make it smooth like the mountains. Unfortunately I don't have time to move on to the next stage of production. I'm going away for a 5 day camping trip. When I get back I'm going to do a lot of work on it, and definitely ask for some suggestions for things like forests, which I always have problems with. They never look quite 'right'.
forrest are always a bit tricky - but we're here to help .... good work so far

I drew symbols for the massive swamp, which are basically grasses and dead trees. For the forests, the trunks will be black with a bit of lighting on the right side so they aren't totally flat and fit in with the mountains. Its the foliage that will take a bit of time to find something decent.
My next challenge will be cities - I want to try something other than dots.
When I get something done today I'll post a newer version.
A bit of a long break. I have been busy with other hobbies, and building a garden pool with a fountain.
I redid the whole map in high resolution because my trees always looked too fuzzy. Its the same style, but a bit cleaner. Still drawing every single thing by hand - no patterns, no special brushes. Even the text will be hand written. My idea is to find a font I like and try to replicate it, so that my writing will look good, but be imperfect, so it won't look like I used the text tool.
The trees were a bit of a pain, because they all are about the same size and shape with little variation, so it was hard to stay with it and not just use a brush set.
*nevermind this, redoing something due to a mistake*
