    Map City of Bedorah

A commission I made for the avalanche project http://www.cycles-rpg.com. The City of Bedorah. The interior is more or less unknown.

Hand drawn, scanned and processed in PS.

I hope it's a WIP, cause of the background. Very good work, anyway.

No, it's finished. Is there a problem with the background?

I like it...nice style. The only thing I can see with the background is that the parchment texture in places looks like it was brushed on over the white...as opposed to looking like somebody brushed white paint over a piece of parchment. Not sure what your intent was, however, so I can't judge. I'm guessing the trees were added in PS Hate to do all of *that* by hand. Anyway, cool map. Nice to see "player-safe" maps.

    Thanks.
I erased the white, actually. Seems to be 'artifacts'.

Actually, I don't undestand why you let the white if you apply a parchment texture on the map... It was the weirdest thing for me.

The intention was to create a map, which is partially painted white on old paper to create a snowy background.

Yep, I see what happened. You erased the white - which is the same process as 'painting on' the parchment. You can see it in the brush strokes around the edges - those brush strokes could only have happened if the parchment was painted.

I really like the hand drawn city and the houses. I think you need some more variation on the trees if you're going to sell those as being hand drawn. At the moment they're identical in size and shape. Perhaps a little bit of size and roundness jitter would break that up.

Nice map - thanks for putting it up!

    Ok, I got it!
In that case I understand. But it's very difficult to render with PS, don't you think? You should have drawn the map on an actual old paper sheet to really paint the snow effect and shadows on it. It would have a kind of japanese print aspect, I suppose.
(I say it 'cause I've already made a map like that once...)
