    Wip Flortyle - Experimental WIP

Ok, staring at the floor tile has gone to my head and I am going to just see what happens with this one.

I give you the birth of Flortyle

We begin with this picture of one my house flooring tiles. I am going to see if I can turn this into a regional map,

I create a layer called shorelines and quickly using a soft brush outline where I see them (shorelines vs. mountains) within the tile itself. In a strange way I feel a bit like Leonardo when he gazed at the rough marble chunk that he turned into David. Now if only I can not completely botch the job, LOL.

I then duplicate the base layer, de-saturate it, create 2 layers for the Sea, and one for the Forests - haha, I have no idea where this is going but I don't want to think, I just want to get something down to see if this is at all plausible. I use some galaxy brush and paint a couple different colors on top of one another where I want forest. (I mosaic'd the forest into tiny triangles and then painted over the top of that again, went back burned the middle areas of the larger forests, then dodged around the edges to give more texture to it).

Hehe, my wife says that blue has got to go but I told her not to worry about that, I'll tear into it soon enough.

A totally plausible project...we even had a challenge idea once where you take a photo of some sidewalk cracks or rust and turn it into a map. So you're not insane, your just becoming more like the mad scientist...well, maybe, I guess that is insane. I'm guilty as charged, too, so it looks like you'll be doing wonderful things
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

As someone who once made a map based on the shape of a puddle of grape soda, I commend your insanity, Jax!

Good to know I'm in good company then

Worked the water a bit more. Changed a few colors to help the mountain areas stand out better.

Neat! And I was going to say, sounds like a challenge, but apparently it already was.
